Overall Comments:
-------------------------
This month was a fairly good start in my project. I started out strong, but became weaker and weaker as time went on. I need to continue to run more. My goal as described in this list states that I need to run at least two times per week. I did that my first week, but haven't since. I haven't been able to recently because it was hard to find a day where it wasn't snowing and where the temperature was over 0 degrees Fahrenheit. I also need to run more because I need to be effectively trained for the Chicago Marathon this fall. I signed up and paid for the Chicago Marathon, I watched 3 of the 100 movies, I learned a whole anatomy dictionary, but I haven't finished Sociology by David M. Newman yet. My goal is to finish that book by the end of February. I skewed the "no soda" goal. I tried a new drink called "Spezi." It's very common in Germany. It's a combination of Pepsi and Fanta. I hated it, not because of the flavour, but because of the carbonation. Since I quit drinking soda, I've hated it. I did not expect to get outside and stargaze this month, as it is usually overcast and bitterly cold here in Wisconsin. Nonetheless, I managed to stargaze three times on three consecutive days in the start of the month and year. As for my quest to eliminate my use of Windows, I have gotten further in compiling my own distribution of linux on my pc. Because it is 64-bit, it has been a little difficult making everything work well. I can now boot it all by itself, however. At this very moment, I have eliminated Windows entirely on my laptop and I am compiling linux on it. It will be done by the end of this weekend. As for my foreign language efforts, I changed my major to Linguistics and am currently studying German in school now. I picked up a Spanish book that will help me develop more Spanish vocabulary and to remember all of the grammer I learned over the last four years. I also started learning French. My love is teaching me how to pronounce the language and Wikibooks, in correlation with Wikiversity, is teaching me everything else. I hope to accomplish a high school comprehension level of French 1 by June. Overall, this month went well. I have some things I need to improve on, but I was surprised at some of the tasks I was able to complete. Some of these tasks are long term projects and take quite a long time to complete. I have started many of these. The next few months look promising. All I need to begin doing is traveling ;-).
Stay classy, fellow bloggers.
About My Project
The Mission:
Complete 101 preset tasks in a period of 1001 days.
The Criteria:
Tasks must be specific (ie. no ambiguity in the wording) with a result that is either measurable or clearly defined. Tasks must also be realistic and stretching (ie. represent some amount of work on your part).
Why 1001 Days?
Many people have created lists in the past - frequently simple goals such as new year's resolutions. The key to beating procrastination is to set a deadline that is realistic. 1001 Days (about 2.75 years) is a better period of time than a year, because it allows you several seasons to complete the tasks, which is better for organising and timing some tasks such as overseas trips or outdoor activities.
Website Info:
This website is simple to navigate around. To view my 101 Goals list, click here. When I complete a task in full or in part (such as visiting one state instead of 50 as a whole), I will make a new post. The posts can be viewed by clicking on the task/book/movie/state. I will describe in detail how and when the task was completed as well as throw in some comments about its difficulty or lack thereof.
