About My Project

The Mission:
Complete 101 preset tasks in a period of 1001 days.

The Criteria:
Tasks must be specific (ie. no ambiguity in the wording) with a result that is either measurable or clearly defined. Tasks must also be realistic and stretching (ie. represent some amount of work on your part).

Why 1001 Days?
Many people have created lists in the past - frequently simple goals such as new year's resolutions. The key to beating procrastination is to set a deadline that is realistic. 1001 Days (about 2.75 years) is a better period of time than a year, because it allows you several seasons to complete the tasks, which is better for organising and timing some tasks such as overseas trips or outdoor activities.

Website Info:
This website is simple to navigate around. To view my 101 Goals list, click here. When I complete a task in full or in part (such as visiting one state instead of 50 as a whole), I will make a new post. The posts can be viewed by clicking on the task/book/movie/state. I will describe in detail how and when the task was completed as well as throw in some comments about its difficulty or lack thereof.

I have always put myself under the influence that February is the worst month of the year. I'm sticking with it. As is evident, I really havn't accomplished much as far as my list is concerned. I have been working a lot harder on my schoolword in order to accomplish my 3.5 gpa goal for the second semester of my senior year. So far, I am sitting at around a 3.0 and I have 57 school days remaining. My Bible readings have fallen behind, but if I still have problems catching up, I have a summer of much free time coming up in a few months.

As far as fluency in languages are concerned, I have not worked on Viscoldi since the second week of January. I recently picked up a French text book from a middle school someplace. My girlfriend is helping me out with the pronunciation of this romance language. I havn't really worked on Spanish at all, but I have come to realize that I am still just as capable of speaking semi-fluent Spanish as I was at the end of my class last year. In addition, I ran across a bunch of MemoryLifter dictionaries that are available for free from the application's website that have hundreds of German words for me to learn. There are on average 350 words per dictionary. There are more or less thirteen thousand vocabulary words I downloaded and can learn. I hope to cover as many of these words as I can before I take the placement tests for college. I also may be retaking the ACT in April, which will allow me to score my anticipated 32. I scored a 25 my first time and I know I can do much better. I need to work on the Reading and Science portions.

I havn't been keeping up with my Wikipedia random article reading, either. It's very difficult to read a new one every day. I have to make more reasonable goals for my next list. I also have yet to make a regular brushing/flossing routine stick. I once heard that 21 consecutive repetitions of an action influences its eventual habitual behaviour. I need to pursue this goal and not let it go.

As far as losing Windows is concerned, my laptop has been completed. There is still a lot for me to add and change, but it is fully self-sufficient and I am very happy about its outcome. I will be recompiling linux from scratch on my pc, however. After doing it once, I can do it much more accurately and much more efficiently, so I'm excited about that.

I have added more music to my iTunes library. I am up to 2,162 songs, most of which are imported at a Variable Bit Rate so they are at a very high quality. That brings me from 5 days up to 5.8 days. My goal is to get to 10 days of music. Yes, I do know every song. I do have a lot of cd cases now too, haha.

I'm still tobacco and soda free. I also havn't slept in past 10 am since before this list was spawned. In regard to the arts, I attempted to try learning the piano. I learned Mary Had a Little Lamb! YAY! I still remember it too! One day I will be playing Bethoven. My girlfriend taught me this as well as the five basic positions in Ballet. My own personal instructor ;-)

Stay classy, fellow bloggers.
