About My Project

The Mission:
Complete 101 preset tasks in a period of 1001 days.

The Criteria:
Tasks must be specific (ie. no ambiguity in the wording) with a result that is either measurable or clearly defined. Tasks must also be realistic and stretching (ie. represent some amount of work on your part).

Why 1001 Days?
Many people have created lists in the past - frequently simple goals such as new year's resolutions. The key to beating procrastination is to set a deadline that is realistic. 1001 Days (about 2.75 years) is a better period of time than a year, because it allows you several seasons to complete the tasks, which is better for organising and timing some tasks such as overseas trips or outdoor activities.

Website Info:
This website is simple to navigate around. To view my 101 Goals list, click here. When I complete a task in full or in part (such as visiting one state instead of 50 as a whole), I will make a new post. The posts can be viewed by clicking on the task/book/movie/state. I will describe in detail how and when the task was completed as well as throw in some comments about its difficulty or lack thereof.

# 36. Gift flowers spontaneously for my mother

Today as I was picking up my sister from work, I stoped at Pick 'n' Save and bought a dozen pink roses for my mother, completely out of the blue. I didn't even think to buy her flowers until my sister and I stopped to see if there was a sale on Sobe. They are really pretty and my mother was delighted when she saw them as the table centerpiece when she awoke. :-D I am happy she is happy. When I get hosting, I will post a picture of them.

Blue October // Yellowcard

This concert wasn't bad at all. Nobody really moved to Yellowcard, but Blue October was much better. At any rate, I went with Jeremy (Evans|Blue guy) and my girlfriend, Rachel. We all went up to the balcony to watch from above, thus realizing that the dark and empty area behind the stage wasn't blocked off. Jeremy and I found our dance floor. :-D We were dancing crazily to Yellowcard, doing everything from break dancing to crypt walking. We even imitated the guys from Fair to Midland (see Evans|Blue post). Rachel was laughing histarically, apparently. We all downed large cans of Bawls before entering. We also received free tickets to see Fuel and Trapt, which I will be attending with at least one of my sisters next Friday night. Overall, I had a great time.

# 51. Run the Chicago Marathon

Today I completed the 30th Chicago Marathon. It was hotter than hell, and a lot of people got sick. You can look it up at ESPN.ccom or MSNBC.com. At any rate, my bib number was 17650 and I finished in 4 hours, 39 minutes, and 50 seconds. If you are a facebook friend of mine, you can see my marathon photos there until I get hosting for my pictures. It was an amazing time and I felt great, even though the marathon was canceled. I finished anyway and got my medal. :-D I'm going to continue running in the future. I have even signed up for another marathon in the spring.

# 76. Go to the top of the Sears Tower

Today most of my family and I purchased tickets to be raced up to the top of the world-renowned Sears Tower in Chicago, Illinois. I took plenty of shot of the building and vista from above, but I still don't have hosting to place my pictures. All in due time. Eventually, as my business and schooling accelerates, I'll have the pics up here. It was quite the sight. I also enjoyed moving at nearly ten floors per second.

Illinois

Today I visited Illinois for my Chicago Marathon and ate at a local restaurant. I ate at a delicious pizza place in the McCormick Expo Center. I don't remember what it was called, though. I have pictures and I will post them as soon as I get hosting.

# 87. Take a job at a bank

In the last few weeks, I have been contracted to work at numerous JPMorgan Chase banks in the State of Wisconsin. In the first project, I deployed computers. In the second project, I surveyed sites for new printers and took inventory of equipment. Though I didn't work for a bank, I did work at a bank, so this qualifies.

# 93. Get a 3.5 GPA for Second semester of 12th grade

I failed this task. My GPA for the second semester was only a 3.0... I will do better in college. I have to.

Updates Performed on Task List

Some of the tasks I have assigned for myself are not tasks at all, but rather guidelines to follow. Many of these are realistic, while others are frankly impossible. I failed these guidelines in the first few weeks of this project. I have altered these guidelines slightly to make them more realistic, as well as a few other tasks.

By being fairly fluent, I mean that I can make simple conversation.
001. Become fluent in French -> Become fairly fluent in French
002. Become fluent in German -> Become fairly fluent in German
003. Become fluent in Spanish -> Become fairly fluent in Spanish

Viscoldi has yet to yield any words at all, so fluency is impossible.
005. Become fluent in Viscoldi -> Begin creating Viscoldi Dictionary

Uhh... This is really just impossible...
007. Learn 500 new English words (approx one new word every other day) and import it into ML -> Learn 100 new English words and import them into ML

Because of the change in number 7, number eight is complete irrelevent, so I can't even change it to something relating to the first.
008. Practice those words in MemoryLifter on non-word-learning days -> Learn 100 new Spanish words and import them into ML

This prooved to be a hassle, as well as be very boring.
011. Read the "Random article" on Wikipedia every day -> Read the "Random article" on Wikipedia every day for a month

I don't actually have "365 Days of Skywatching" and in seven months' time, 10 star-views have proven difficult to attain.
012. Star-view in accordance with "365 Days of Skywatching" 100 times -> Star-view 50 times

Even though I was accepted to UWMC, I decided to go to UW Milwaukee (a more prestigious school anyway). Also, I don't know if getting my Master's would be worth the while.
015. Complete both years at UWMC and apply and be accepted to another university to obtain my masters -> Continue on the path toward earning my Bachelor's Degree

016. Retake the ACT and score a 32 or higher -> Retake the ACT and score a 30 or higher

I'm no longer moving back to Wausau.
084. Take a whole day at the Milwaukee County Zoo before I move back up north -> Take a whole day at the Milwaukee County Zoo

# 44. Buy a lottery ticket

Today I bought a Powerball ticket, just because I could :-D. It was the quickpick so I didn't choose the numbers, and it was only $1. All of my numbers were only one away from the actual (go figure.) So, I won nothing. But hey, I bought a lottery ticket. I don't think I ever will again. The dollar was wasted, haha.
